Derry planning permission awarded to Coolkeeragh ESB
Coolkeeragh ESB today welcomed Derry City Council's planning committee's decision to grant planning for its £150 million gas-fired power station at Coolkeeragh. The partners in the development now wait formal planning permission later in the month.
Michael Aherne of Coolkeeragh ESB, said: "We wish to thank Derry City Council for its support and look forward to continuing to work closely with
the community of Derry in developing the new power plant, which will deliver more affordable electricity to consumers in Northern Ireland ".
The construction of a gas-fired power station is widely recognised as being the main driver to the extension of the natural gas supply network to industrial and domestic users in the NorthWest and to delivering a more affordable energy source to people and businesses of Northern Ireland .
